Description of Project
This project intended to implement strategies that can increase the use of alternative energy sources, especially LPG, with a focus on innovations in financing, business models, and technology to increase the uptake of LPG.
This project aims to promote access to LPG, to provide a higher quality of life and promote overall welfare, through innovative financing, novel business models, and technological advancements. Specifically, the study will test:
- Business models with services that promote larger consumption of LPG (ie. post payment, installment payment, house delivery). • Pricing models that are feasible to low income, peri-urban communities.
- Equipment that addresses key community concerns around efficiency, safety & monitoring of use.
Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment
Study Setting: took place in Pemba Municipality, more concretely in the Muxara neighborhood, for a period of 10 weeks, with a follow up survey period of up to 8 weeks,
Study participants: included a total of 150 participants, selected per parameters indicated,
Study Design: this included Intervention: 1: Initial LPG kit distribution, Intervention 2: Simulated store, Intervention 3: Home education program for study participants, Intervention 4: Project monitoring, Week 1 to 2: Baseline Survey, Week 1 to 10: Three (3) LPG Education sessions, Week 16: End of Study Survey
